Looking back over 2012, and what a great year it has been!! Where shall I start?
I performed a few shows with Sy Smith & Zo!, Played New York for the first time with Matt Cusson, and played my very first Chicago show thanks to Vel Wilson. She believed in me from the moment she heard my music. Thanks V!!
I was nominated for and won the "Entertainer of the Year" Award in the 4th Annual Detroit Black Music Awards.
I traveled to the countryside of London, England to work with my good friend and brother Jay Electronica and also ended up working with an artist and producer I really admire, Ryan Leslie. Great experience!!
I got an honorable mention in the Lalah Hathaway Remix Contest and received a very nice prize package. Hey Lalah!!!
I opened for my big brother Robert Glasper and Angie Stone at Chene Park and recorded with him for my album the next day. My birthday!!
I, along with Damon Warmack, Derrick Benford, and Saxappeal held down continuous shows at Baker's Keyboard Lounge and MotorCity Wine.
I've held down the "house drummer" position at 1917 American Bistro as well as becoming a first-call drummer and performing ALL of the city with some of the best musicians around. Many of who I've admired and dreamed to perform with since I was a kid.
I became a member of The Refinement Group. Hey D & D!!
I was the most used extra in the movie "Sparkle". Great times on set and great kicking it with Whitney. I'm sure you all know the now infamous photo from Ebony Magazine by now. LOL!!
I watched my father receive his Masters. Love you Billy D!!
I got one of the CLEANEST 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E's you'll ever see on the road. Absolutely LOVE my vehicle!!
I started endorsing D'Adarrio Products, which include Pro-Mark Drumsticks, Evans Drumheads, and PureSound Snare Wires. S/O to TRX Cymbals and F. Sharp Custom Cables, and Cintron Energy for bringing me on board as well.
Also, I've made GREAT strides with my album "XII" and it will feature some of Detroit's best and some of the best names in the industry. Robert Glasper, Raheem DeVaughn, Bernard Wright, Frank McComb, Choklate, Li'l John Roberts, Mike Phillips, Karriem Riggins, Marcus Baylor, Jean Baylor Bill Summers, Nicholas Payton and MANY others. It's an honor, privilege, and a blessing to work with these incredibly gifted individuals.
It has been an incredible year!!! I met a lot of new people and gained a lot of support. Thanks to all of you who show your love. I appreciate you.
